Please join the EF team and educators from across the nation for the EF Global Education Symposium 2019, an annual professional learning event focused on global citizenship, experiential learning, and cultural competency.

This year’s Symposium will explore the theme “STEM through a global lens”. Alongside like-minded educators, listen as international experts discuss the evolution of global education. Then participate in workshops that bring STEM to life in the classroom through educational travel.

Friday, November 1

Overnight participants arrive in Boston

5pm–7pm       Welcome reception

Come mingle with EF staff and meet fellow educators who share your passion for educational travel.

Saturday, November 2

8:45am            Welcome and keynote

Session 1

Hear from international educators from exemplar nations, such as Finland and Singapore, where STEM topics have been seamlessly integrated into public education systems. Learn how you can apply their project-based learning and cross-curricular approach to STEM education in your own classroom.

Lunch and conversation

Session 2

Hear from thought leaders working to define the knowledge and skills that students need to tackle challenges in our interconnected global society. Choose from experts at the Nobel Prize Museum, Harvard Graduate School of Education’s Think Tank on Global Education, and FIRST Robotics as they discuss topics ranging from the UN Sustainable Development Goals to coding.

Session 3

Join us for a discussion on experiential learning and global perspectives—led by partners such as Panamanian organization CREHO and Cornell Tech. These groups are working with students to bring global lessons to life through travel and help them apply 21st Century skills to real-world issues.

Educator panel and closing remarks

Hear our panel of global educators share their stories, best practices, and how they’ve overcome common and unique challenges in their role.

Please note that attendees are responsible for transportation to and from the airport, as well as to and from the event venue (EF Center).
